Leisure Suit Larry is ‘reunited’ with Al Lowe!

More information here! I’d like to thank Nevac over at the Sierra Help Pages for bringing this to my attention!

Replay Games have announced that they’re bringing back the classic sleazy Sierra adventure hero, Leisure Suit Larry, with Al Lowe himself returning to take the reins in a recreation of Leisure Suit Larry In The Land Of The Lounge Lizards:

The new release is the 1991 remake of Larry’s original scorching adventure Leisure Suit Larry In The Land Of The Lounge Lizards, which improved the game’s original 16-color EGA graphics into achingly gorgeous 256-color VGA graphics, the 3D high-def of its day.

It’s not clear exactly what platforms will be supported – the press release mentions it’ll be coming to a “new generation of netbooks, tablets and mobile devices — starting with Intel’s Appup.com marketplace”, so the primary mobile platforms seems likely. Screenshots available on the game page… you PERVERT!

Al Lowe to Open the Festival of Games!

News From: http://www.dexigner.com/news/22709 :

Al Lowe is perhaps one of the most well-known game designers in the games industry.

During the Festival of Games on April 28-29, 2011 he will present the opening keynote and will share all ups and downs from his 16 year career at Sierra Entertainment.

With the Leisure Suit Larry series, first published in 1987, he is in the same league as the creator of the game Pong, Ralph Bear, and the creator of Pacman, Toru Iwatani who were both opening keynotes at previous editions.

But unlike his peers, his games were not about skills with a game controller, but fun adventure puzzles to solve.

The Festival of Games is Europe’s most effective business event for everyone who wants to make profit with digital games.

It consists of a Conference, the Expo, the largest European Career Fair in gaming and the match-making event Pitch & Match.

BrandX and OddManor – A Word from Ken & Roberta Williams.

From Ken and Roberta Williams:

First I’d like to thank all of you who have sent emails, or posted messages, thanking Roberta and I for the games. We’re bad about responding to our email, but we do read it all!

One common theme, in emails we receive, is that we are constantly being asked when we’ll make another game. Unfortunately, as sad as we are to admit this, the odds are heavy that the answer is “never.” Like an athlete turning 30, there comes a time when it is appropriate to exit as a hero, and let the next generation take their turn.

That said, I have a bit of an announcement, and an opportunity for you.

Our son, Chris, who worked with us a VERY long time ago at Sierra, is now a lead engineer at BrandX games on a massively online social adventure game called “Odd Manor.”

Chris is seeking beta testers (actually alpha testers) for his game, and would appreciate it if you would sign up. Game testing will be during a closed “pre-alpha” launch on Facebook starting in April.

To sign up, go to this link: http://www.OddManor.com

The game is early in development, so “be kind.”

Enjoy!

-Ken and Roberta Williams

PS For a bit more info about the game, you can check out these links: (although, Chris needs testers, so PLEASE just sign up and check the game out yourself).

Something in the works… Revealed!

So here it is! It’s only the first game (and it feels like it took forever to do – but I am proud of how it turned out!) It’s a Leisure Suit Larry (in this case LSL1EGA) “Interactive” walkthrough of the game with none other than Larry Laffer himself!

Note – the interactive map relied on screen resolution; and in today’s systems, the map would break so it’s been purged.

Something’s in the works…

… to be added to the Larry Laffer website. What started off as a small task I had wanted to do – has developed into something much bigger. Something much cooler. To complete the ENTIRE thing is going to take a very, very, very long time. But I should be able to complete the first part of it within a week or two. I think it’s going to make the site a little unique for this one thing, if nothing else. Quite excited about it, really. Especially since it’s 2:45am and I have been working on this (to make it work) since like 11pm.

Let’s InterAct(ion)…

Ken William’s site at SierraGamers.com has an archive of all the issues of Sierra’s InterAction (and it’s previously varied names) on the site – and I had gone on there to find a specific issue, then decided to just grab them all and upload them here as well, because many of the issues have things related to Leisure Suit Larry. So if you want, you can check out what will be the beginning of collecting random Sierra related things on the site as well.

A few new things…

We’ve added Leisure Suit Larry 1 Codes & CheatsLeisure Suit Larry 2 Codes & CheatsLeisure Suit Larry 3 Codes & CheatsLeisure Suit Larry 5 Codes & Cheats, and Leisure Suit Larry 7 Codes & Cheats. Also you can check out the Larry Music Page where you can download the sheet music, and the all the songs from Leisure Suit Larry (in ZIP format). You can also go to the WalkThru page and download all the Manuals and Hintbooks for the Leisure Suit Larry games. We also threw in some ExXxTras Bits & Bytes where you can download game designs, hint books, manuals, videos, and other… bits and bytes!
