It’s abridged because the game is an RPG, and like most RPGs, the player encounters repetitive text (eating / sleeping / fighting / losing / winning / fast travel / “no one home” / “closed for the evening” / etc.) that doesn’t contribute much to the overall story.
Instead, I chose to focus on the main story and the various side quests & story interactions the player can encounter, turning it into a novel format (novel here meaning “book length,” not “interestingly new or unusual”) rather than simply an extracted list of all text data.
The PDF contains the following sections:
- An introduction of how the document came to be, and the reasoning behind the choices made in its creation
- An enhanced game map of Antara (for those following along at home)
- Writing credits for the game, plus the quick “primer” on the world of Antara from the game manual
- The story of the game, divided into chapters (and includes my “fan-fiction enhancements” for the cutscenes)
- A list of the game items with their various descriptions
- The lyrics to the game’s tavern songs
- Unused text found within the game files, along with my commentary
- Explanations for references found within the game, as well as fun facts
And because the document is so long, the table of content contains direct links to each of these sections.
