I still say that what better way to humiliate Larry than to have him placed in a situation where the women are desperate for men, but still reject Larry.

Well I am trying to figure out - why would they reject him if they need him?

For the same reasons that a starving man would reject food that he hates the flavor of. He might need it, but his revulsion is greater than his need. People do such things.
